Welcome to my blog about geckos, Leopard Geckos in particular. The truth is I do not have any geckos at the moment nor did I have them as child. But my boys, now grown, had geckos and all kinds of lizard types. They make good first pets for kids as they are interesting, wild, adventurous and survive getting out and about without food and water for some time.
I once had an art gallery where I tore down the lower ceiling to expose a beautiful old tin ceiling. The space used to be a pet shop. About two months after I moved in, I started hearing this clicking noise and in a matter of days a Leopard Gecko appeared on my desk. It was saying please feed me. I wondered just how long that little gecko had survived in that space since the pet shop closed. I gave him to my nephew who enjoyed caring for him.
I live in the high desert of New Mexico where we have lots of lizards around. I love going to Mexico in the winter, and watch all the geckos come out at night under the lights and serenade you with their clicking sounds. There is something about that sound that immediately makes you alert to your surroundings.
I hope you enjoy this blog on Leopard Geckos, and I will be adding more later on various other types of geckos. Though an image on the header of this blog should have been a Leopard Gecko, I could not resist this image of a Leaf Tailed Gecko leaping through the air. I have created a shop page for you where you can find good books on caring for your gecko as well as good homes in which to make your gecko happy.
